START WITH THE BASICS

What is a balance transfer?

A balance transfer moves an eligible outstanding loan to another lender under a new agreement. It may be considered when the new structure better fits your needs, but the saving must be checked after fees and closure costs.

Compare both loans over a comparable remaining period. A lower EMI achieved by extending the tenure can increase total cost, even when the advertised rate looks attractive. A top-up is additional borrowing, not a saving.

WHY PEOPLE EXPLORE IT

Potential advantages to consider

01

Review the existing structure

Assess whether the present rate, repayment schedule and service arrangement still fit your needs.

02

Compare potential savings

A suitable new proposal may improve cost or terms after transfer expenses are included.

03

Make an informed switch

A side-by-side comparison helps separate a lower EMI from a lower total cost.

PREPARE WITH CLARITY

What can affect eligibility?

  • Existing loan type, outstanding amount and repayment history
  • Current income, credit report and commitments
  • New lender’s criteria and remaining tenure
  • Property/security records where a secured loan is transferred

Documents and information to prepare

  • Current loan sanction letter and repayment schedule
  • Latest outstanding and loan statements
  • Foreclosure/closure quotation and transfer-related documents
  • Updated identity, income, bank and security documents as applicable

Requirements vary by provider and profile. Never put documents, identity numbers, passwords or OTPs in the initial enquiry.

LOOK BEYOND THE HEADLINE

Costs and trade-offs to review

1

Add new processing/valuation/legal fees and applicable closure costs.

2

Compare total remaining repayments and calculate how long savings would take to recover transfer costs.

3

Check the new tenure, reset terms and any additional borrowing separately.

HOW TO MOVE FORWARD

What happens next?

  1. Share your requirement and your own contact details with our team. This first enquiry does not apply for a loan.
  2. Discuss your income profile, repayment commitments and the documents a lender may require.
  3. Review any lender proposal, including its repayment schedule, total cost and applicable terms, before deciding.
  4. If you proceed, the lender verifies your application and decides approval and disbursement. We assist with coordination.
YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Balance Transfer FAQs

Will a transfer always save money?

No. The new interest cost, fees, closure expenses and tenure determine the result. Compare the full remaining cost.

Is a lower EMI enough reason to switch?

A lower EMI may reflect a longer tenure. Compare total repayment and whether the revised commitment suits your finances.

Can I transfer any loan?

Acceptance depends on the loan type, repayment history, outstanding amount and the new lender’s policy.

Is a top-up included automatically?

No. Additional borrowing requires separate eligibility and assessment and increases your debt obligation.
